WHY I CHOSE A TEAK SHOWER BENCH
It's tempting to furnish your bathroom with wall mounted soap dispensers, cubbies in every shape and size and towels the size of a twin bed sheet, but do you need those things? Or even want those things?
Of course I want a beautiful bathroom. I spend a lot of time in there! But, what I really need is a functional bathroom that's easy to maintain on a daily basis.
After researching shower styles and bathroom decor I came to a few conclusions:
Every corner and cubby in a shower has the potential to hold water and soap scum
Tile showers require a LOT of maintenance (see above corner and cubby reference)
There are lots of economical, simple, furnishings out there that are both beautiful and functional.
I decided to use a bench in my shower instead of having a built in shower seat. I chose a teak shower bench. The teak bench seemed like the best choice for my new shower because it met all of my requirements for a shower bench.
sturdy
adds texture and contrast to the shower area
easy to clean
has a storage shelf
can be repurposed as a side table, dressing bench or outdoor accessory
I found this one on Amazon, it's by AquaTeak, and I love it so much! You can find teak benches on lots of sites and they're available in square, rectangle, round and corner models. This one is 24 inches wide and 18 inches tall. It's perfect for my shower, but I suggest that you take measurements of your shower area and shop for the bench that works best for your needs.
